Bear Grylls Interview in Outside Magazine

If you're interested in hearing Bear Grylls explain the allegations surrounding his show, I advise you to head to your nearest bookstore and purchase a copy of the November 2007 issue of Outside Magazine.
While perusing the magazines stands, I noticed Bear's face on the cover. I let out a yelp and startled the gentlemen next to me. Based on my reaction, you can probably tell I'm still a Man vs. Wild fan. I was a bit surprised and even a little disappointed when the story of his potential fraud broke. But, there's something about Bear I like. I have been waiting patiently for him to address these rumors and finally he did.
Sort of.
About a month ago, Bear posted a vague response to the allegations on his personal blog. I really expected him to deny the charges. But, he didn't in a very, dry way that left me, and I'm sure, his other fans wanting more. This time in the Outside interview he answered the question I wanted to hear (I'm paraphrasing): was portions of the show staged? His answer: yes. But, he did offer a little rebuttal by adding that on days that were going to be physically challenging, he would rest at the lodge with the crew. Huh?
When I finished reading the interview, I wanted to be happy he finally spoke up for himself. But, I'm still a very confused. I love the show and technically they never implied he was roughing it, but wasn't that still wrong? Was the only reason he finally talked about it was to promote Man vs. Wild that premieres on November 14?
Tell me your thoughts.

it’s a show! He has a life off of the camera! Give him a break. He teaches people to deal with situations out in the wild, he doesn’t live in the wild.
