Bear Speaks….Sort of

While catching up on my blog reading, I discovered Bear Grylls addressed the recent allegations surrounding the authenticity of his widely popular show, Man vs. Wild. Unless you've been in a cave, you might have read or heard that what we are seeing on his show – building rafts, sleeping outside, killing rabbits – may not be genuine on his part.

An article in the British Daily Mail accused Grylls of sleeping in a hotel and eating blueberry pancakes instead of toughing it out in the woods. Finally, after months of allegations, Grylls finally spoke (or blogged) about the questions concerning his show.

I, for one, feel slightly relieved. I'm a huge fan of the show and hoped it would not be true. That said, I wish he would have explained the situation in more detail. I'm pleased he spoke up for himself but I still have a few questions. Read his blog entry and judge for yourself.

The recent press accusations of motels and stagings in the show that have been doing the rounds, all I can say is they don't always tell the full story, but that's life and part of being in the public eye I guess.

The upshot is we're determined to make all new shows more inclusive of the crew and their role. Discovery and Channel 4 will also include a disclaimer at the start of the show so there's no confusion.

I can't tell you how much all the support and encouraging letters and emails have meant to me during all that. Thank you.

When I get back from our family break, (we are up in the hills of Wales, lovely!) I will be back to my regular blog posting. In the meantime thanks again for so much support. It has meant a lot.
