Dean Kamazes Missing Record But Raises Money for Charity
Filed in archive Outdoor News on June 25, 2007
I was in New York last week and barely missed Dean Kamazes running on a treadmill above Times Square. For those who don't know, Kamazes is arguably America's best endurance runner. He planned to break the world record for a 24-hour distance run on a treadmill, 153.76 miles, and raise awareness for Athletes for a Cure.
He didn't break the record, but what he did do was just as amazing. According to the Accelerade website, he completed a distance equal to the total of five marathons. Yes, that's right. Five marathons! And raised $21,000 for Athletes for a Cure.
Talk about motivation. He makes me want to get up right now and do some push-ups and run on my treadmill!
