Get wildflower seeds from your local store rather than digging native species outdoors
Are you a hiker who is looking to explore nature? I would suggest that you head to south of Utah as early as March or as late as October in northern mountains to get to see some beautiful wildflowers.
You can see the desert wildflowers in abundance in May but once the temperature rises, they start to wither. If you are a nature enthusiast I would suggest that you buy a wildflower field guide which includes a plant key or glossary. Try to learn more about wildflowers to make your trip exciting. One of the most popular desert wildflower is paintbrush and it's easier to spot.
Just don't think of Utah high deserts as barren wastelands as you will come across smaller and less showy native wildflowers in high plateaus and valley floors. There is always a chance that you will get to see wildflowers at unexpected places.
One piece of advice – never dig up native species to take back home for your garden rather you can buy wildflower seeds from a local store near your place.
