GPS Devices for Rent at the Grand Canyon
Filed in archive Outdoor Products on June 25, 2007
Headed to the grand canyon this summer? Need a little help getting around? Visitors can now rent a GPS device. They will be available in July with rates that start at $11.50 a day.
The devices are designed to provide an easy way to navigate the Grand Canyon's trails and roads, and they also offer information about lodges and educational amenities in the park.
Visitors can rent the FUNfinders at three locations in the park, the Canyon View Information Plaza Books & More, Desert View Information Center, and Kolb Studio, and also in nearby Tusayan at the National Geographic IMAX Visitor Center.
FUNfinder expects the units will be available for tourists to use in Washington, D.C., this fall, and at Vail Valley Ski Resorts in Colorado (Vail, Breckenridge, Beaver Creek and Keystone) in November. The devices not only provide directions but can help users find everything from restrooms to restaurants.
FUNfinder spokesman Ryan Woodcock said the company is looking at offering the devices in other venues as well, including more national parks and amusement parks.
