Hawaii: Big Island Blues Part Nine
Humbled fully by my experience watching our earth be created right before my eyes, I returned to South Kona, the agricultural paradise overlooking the sea. The entire drive home my eyes were consumed by visions of fire, I felt as if I had been sitting in front of the world's biggest campfire . . . there is something similar that occurs within the psyche after meditating by this kind of light.

Now I was back to the ocean side community, and the activities that naturally go along with that – i.e. snorkel and surf! The waves had picked up enough so that the local reef was just barely big enough to ride, but the swell was not so big that it made for treacherous snorkel and swim waters further down the coast. The best of both worlds!
Local farmers and friends were out in the water in various modes – some on kayak, some on longboards, and others just swimming and snorkeling. The waters were full with smiling people, everyone enjoying the picturesque beauty and playfully engaging with oceanic power. One man and woman were unsuccessfully trying to paddle into and ride a wave tandem – two on one board!
It was hilarious watching them start making a B line for a wave, positioning and jostling, and then going over the falls in a pile of arms, legs, board and leash. Then they would emerge from the surface of the sea giggling, paddling and trying to recover their board, load onto it and get out of dodge before the next wave dumped over the reef.
