Many years ago, the river of the Southeast was paddled by Native Americans. Now the people who are seekers of thrill and like enthusiastic adventure and filling up these waterways have turned it into famous white water rafting destination.
Just a day trip away from Atlanta, you get access to some of the best rivers of Southeast for the purpose of rafting. These rivers are Nantahala, Ocoee, and Chattooga. If you are fresher or an experienced river rat, each of these rivers provides a thrilling experience. All you need is your bathing suit, some dry clothes and pair of river shoes to kick start the fun.
Nantahala river is situated in the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina. According to Carolyn Allison, a rafting expert with Wildwater Ltd. Rafting, Nantahala River provides accommodation for the beginning rafter, but that does not mean that visitors are deprived from an adventure. Notable rapids comprise Patton's Run, named after a local one-armed man who was a professional rafter in the 1970s and Nantahala Falls, a spot where expert rafters and kayakers showcase the surfing tricks for viewers.
Carolyn Allison stated:
It moves along quickly and there are pretty good little dips.
The Nantahala is also called as Natty; by the local people is a constant fifty degrees, even on the hottest days of the year. For riding the rapids, children must be at least seven years old and should weigh 60 pounds or more.
