National Trails Day
Filed in archive Outdoor News by Terah Shelton on May 18, 2007

The idea of the holiday is to "inspire the public to flock to their favorite trails to discover, learn about and celebrate trails while participating in educational exhibits, trail dedications, gear demonstrations, instructional workshops and trail work projects."
This year, events will take place in all 50 states including all of the provinces of the United States. In my hometown of Atlanta, The Georgia Appalachian Trail Club will feature two 6-mile free guided hikes, gear demonstrations, children's programs, educational exhibits, and complimentary water for hikers.
