Outdoor History: Tour de France

In honor of the Tour de France, this week's Outdoor History will feature significant dates and tidbits about this year's tour.
July 22, 1990: Greg LeMond won his third Tour de France. A Minnesota native, Lemond was the first American to win the great French cycling race.
July 24, 2005: lance armstrong won the Tour de France for a record-breaking seventh time.
The tallest rider was Marcel Sieberg (MRM) at 1.98 metres (6 ft 5.5 in).
The shortest rider was Alexandre Botcharov (C.A) at 1.64 metres (5 ft 4.5 in).
The heaviest riders were Robert Forster (GST) and Gert Steegmans (QSI) at 87 kg (192 lbs, 13 stone 10 lbs).
The lightest rider was Amets Txurruka (EUS) at 56 kg (123 lbs, 8 stone 11 lbs).
The youngest rider was Geraint Thomas of the Barloworld team, born on 25 May 1986.
The average rider in 2007 was 1.79 metres (5 ft 10 in) tall, weighed 70 kg (154 lb, 11 stone 0 lb), and was 28.5 years old.
