Outdoor News Update: Mountain Biking and Climbing
Here's a recap of the outdoor news I've missed.

Climber Sets New Speed Record for Seven Summits

He started to climb only last year, and Saturday he became the fastest seven summiteer yet. Topping out Denali on June 30 with Adventure Peaks' Dave Pritt and John Whittle, Irish climber Ian Mc Keever completed the quest in 156 days - one month less than the previous record-holder (Carstensz version), Canadian Daniel Griffith.

Bikers United Over Divide

Congress banned bicycles from the Appalachian Trail before our sport evolved, and access to the Pacific Crest Trail was eliminated in 1988, before mountain bike advocacy had fully developed. With nearly 5,000 miles of iconic trail off-limits on either coast, mountain bikers have had to look to the Rocky Mountains for their taste of epic, backcountry riding.

Moab to Host September Adventure Race

Gravity Play Sports will again host the 4th Annual Xstream Expedition Race in the magnificent Moab, Utah area in late September. The 3 day, 250+ mile expedition race is the most affordable expedition race in the world at only $395 per person. This rate is in effect through the early registration deadline of July 15th.
