Preparing to Go Downhill

Downhill skiing and snowboarding will attract up to 28 million Americans to the slopes this winter, not all of whom will be physically ready for the challenge. Although improved equipment and the use of helmets have reduced some injuries, damage to the tendons, ligaments and muscles in the legs and knees, and muscles of the upper body is still a danger.

To counter the trend toward these types of injuries, the Orthopedic Foundation for Active Lifestyles has issued a release called "Pre-Season Ski & Snowboard Training 101," which is a guide for preparing the body for the slopes.

The release includes exercises and stretches to increase core strength and flexibility. For more information visit Stellar News.
