The Outdoor Enthusiast Next Door: Lou Yuhasz (Part 2)

What/when was your last outdoor trip/activity?
I have a two year old daughter, so right now I take a lot of day trips to local state parks, primarily to get information to post on the site.
The last extended trip was a family vacation to Assateague National Seashore last August. We've gone down the last few years and really enjoy camping on the beach, I like doing a little hiking and sightseeing, and we rented a canoe on Sinepuxent Bay. It's an easy drive from Youngstown and very affordable. And the two girls enjoy the ocean and the horses. Last time, we didn't go into Ocean City at all.
What's your next outdoor adventure? Where and why?
First, I'm going to the Venture Outdoors festival in Pittsburgh
to make some contacts and see what they're doing to promote outdoor recreation. Then, we're planning a camping trip to the Alleghenies. I've used the Minister Creek Overlook Trail to camp on the North Country Trail in the past, and want to try it again.
Name three items/gadgets essential to the outdoor lover and why.
First, a comfortable day pack. Technology has come a long way, and I've had some really awful packs in the past. But, with a good day pack, you're always ready to go for just about any activity.
Second, I never go anywhere without a journal. Thoughts and impressions are more important to me than 67 digital photos that'll never be looked at again. That, and I'm always finding more things I didn't know about our area, like the fact that there's a windsurfing area at Lake Arthur in PA!
And third, A computer to access www.SteelValleyOutdoors.info to find out what's going on!
Thanks Lou!
