The crash happened late Saturday morning in a field about 30 miles southwest of Kalispell, in an area known as Lost Prairie, Sheriff Mike Meehan said. The federal aviation administration
in Seattle said the plane went down shortly after takeoff, then burned. The pilot of the Cessna 182 operated by Skydive Lost Prairie was carrying two skydiving instructors and two trainees to jumps, said Michael Morrill, a manager of the company. In June of 2007, Joe O'Blenis will embark on a solo sea kayaking circumnavigation of British Columbia's rugged Vancouver Island, an expedition of roughly 1150 kilometers (just over 700 miles). Joe will attempt to complete the fastest circumnavigation of the Island thus far by solo kayak, breaking the current record of 28 days (held by Leon Sommé).
Climber Sets Speed Record on Cuillin Ridge
According to Dougald MacDonald of climbing.com, the speed record for Scotland's iconic Cuillin Ridge just got faster. MacDonald writes: "Taking advantage of an extended spell of excellent weather in the United Kingdom, Es Tressider smashed the record for traversing the Cuillin Ridge on Scotland's Isle of Skye on May 4. Tressider, a climber and mountain runner from Edinburgh, completed the seven-mile route in 3 hours 17 minutes 28 seconds, about 15 minutes faster than the previous best.
